
Ultrasound Guided Corticosteroid Injections
Steroid injections are commonly used as a treatment for pain pertaining to the musculoskeletal system. In most cases this provides short term relief to allow your rehabilitation to continue in a more comfortable manner. The pain relief is temporary and will wear off.
We perform these procedures every Wednesday afternoon with our sessional doctor. We require a request form from an approved practitioner before proceeding with this therapy.

What are the risks?
There are a few risks of the procedure, some are outlined below:
Increase of pain, this is relatively rare and is usually self-limiting
Infection, this is a more serious complication, it is however extremely rare
Tendon damage, this again is rare and additional precautions are taken to avoid tendon damage
You will be given an information sheet from our team before your procedure so you have plenty of time to think about how you might like to proceed.
After care
We recommend 1-2 days of light activities, strenuous exercise should be avoided.
Pain can be managed with over the counter medications, if you are unsure you can make contact with your GP.
Always follow up with your health provider to endure you are on a rehabilitation programme suitable for your particular issue.
An after care sheet and pain chart will be given to you at the end of your procedure.
